Vegan option at Chipotle?

If you have not already heard (I watched it on Oprah) Chipotle is starting a healthy fast food movement!!!!!  According to founder Steve Ellis, Chipotle uses “unprocessed, seasonal, family-farmed, sustainable, nutritious, naturally raised, added hormone free, organic, and artisanal” products.  And now that I thought I couldn’t love them any more, they’ve gone ahead and introduced a VEGAN MEAT OPTION!!!!!! Soooooooooooo EXCITED!!!! The new menu item, called “Garden Blend,” is made by the company Gardein. According to Gardein, their plant-based meat substitute is made from soy, wheat and pea proteins, vegetables and ancient grains (quinoa, amaranth, millet and kamut). What an amazing addition to Chipotle’s menu! This new Garden Blend hasn’t been introduced at all Chipotle locations yet so please go to their website and click the button that says SPEAK and send them a comment to let them know that we want Garden blend in all of the LA locations. check out these great vegan products Advertisements

White Bean Aioli

I made this yummy dip the other day and my friends and I ate it right up! It was so delicious and  it only took 10 minutes to make.  If you love garlic you will love this dip! It’s great on vegetables, brushetta, or pitas. here is the recipe ENJOY!!!!!! INGREDIENTS: 1 can of organic white beans (navy or great northern beans) 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1/4 teaspoon salt Several pinches of freshly ground black pepper 1/4 cup olive oil 6 cloves garlic, chopped DIRECTIONS: COMBINE THE beans, , lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth, scraping down the sides of the bowl to get everything.  Preheat a small pan over low heat. Cook the garlic in the olive oil for about 3 minutes. You want to gently heat it, not brown it. Add the garlic and oil to the mixture in the blender and puree. Taste for salt and pepper, and lemon and adjust to your liking. Transfer to container and refrigerate until ready to use.

Oh My Mochi!

Late last night Chris and I wanted a late night snack. I made pan-fried mochi! This is not the mochi ice cream that everyone eats, the mochi we buy comes in the refrigerated section and you can bake it or my favorite pan fry!  OMG it was warm gooey and delicious! Mochi is made from short-grain sweet brown rice and it is gluten-free and dairy free! Try the brand Grainaissance it comes in two flavors, original and cinnamon raisin. TRUST ME IT IS SOOOOOOO GOOD!

Earthbar has vegan smoothies

Today I discovered Earth Bar. I was taking Aiden (my son) for a walk and I discovered this organic eco-conscious Juice Bar. I got so excited because the girl at Jamba Juice doesn’t like me very much!  Everyday I visit Jamba and I ask one million question’s like ” Is there milk in the smoothie powder?”  & “Can you make my smoothie with no yogurt?” So with that said I am so happy to find a Juice Bar that has healthy options. Earthbar is a vitamin shop  & a juice bar that focuses on organic nutrients. There are 4 locations including Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Woodland Hills, & Westwood Village. There are so many healthy smoothies to choose from. They have Functional smoothies, antioxidant smoothies, & organic juices. I ordered the Green Detox, It has banana, pineapple, raw kale, & hemp milk! So if you are like me and you love smoothies that don’t have tons of sugar in then go try out Earthbar!

Definitely one my favorite spots! M Cafe is a contemporary macrobiotic cuisine wich means no eggs, dairy or refined cane sugar. Everything is prepared with organic, whole food ingredients and natural grain sweeteners. Everything served at M Cafe is delicious!!!!!!! If you are vegan or not I highly recommend this spot! The vegan benedict is my favorite item to order when I am having breakfast at M Cafe! It’s a grilled whole-grain baguette, steamed kale, tomato, tempeh bacon with soy hollandaise. Healthy and soooooooo delish! My boyfriend Chris is not a vegan at all but he loves this place.  He ordered the  Breakfast Enchilada which has scrambled tofu, tempeh Bacon, avocado, chili beans and soy mozzarella. Another favorite of ours is the Cranberry & Walnut French Toast. It comes with organic maple syrup, soy butter with a cranberry compote, and tempeh bacon. Vegan or not everyone should give this place a try! They serve breakfast, lunch, & dinner and everything is AMAZING! If there is not a M Cafe near you they sell some of there …

Vegan at HOUSTON’S??

So last night Chris (he’s my boyfriend), myself, and our baby boy Aiden were invited out to dinner. We went to one of our favorite places HOUSTON’S. I looked over the menu and realized since I am now a vegan there is NOTHING for me to eat! It was time to get creative. I noticed they had a veggie plate (seasonal vegetables and a veggie sushi roll) so I decided to go with that. I asked our waitress how they prepared the veggies and she said “steamed with butter and topped with cheese!” WAY TO MAKE A VEGGIE PLATE HEALTHY HUH? So I asked if I can have my meal made with no dairy (no butter, no cheese, and NO MAYO in my veggie sushi roll). Our waitress was so nice and did not make me feel like a crazy person. Everything turned out wonderful and delicious! I give the meal 4 out of 5 fist pumps! Well if you are a vegetarian, vegan, or on a diet I highly recommend this menu item. ( for vegetarians the …
